What do we do to children in modern times? We separate cause and effect (comments about an observation by Wes Green)

A schoolmate, Wes Green, made the following observation

In modern times, we separate cause and effect.   The true cause of the light going on in the room is hundreds of miles away in a utility plant.  That's where the electricity comes from.

Pouring milk from a container ...

The book SWITCH is worth looking at.
Dan Heath suggests WHY and HOW we can
get the energy to make a change.

It is disorienting.  How can milk come from a box?   Milk comes from an animal.   but students are seaparated from the reality.

These students in Florianopolis, Brazil,
are making a list of 10 to 20 videos that are
important to them.  THE POWER OF ONE CLICK
by my students and by students in other
schools will incrase the number of hits to
those videos.   VeryCoolSites.com

Flip a switch and a light goes on.  It's magic.

Television distorts reality.
Television is stylized.

When you see a symphony being performed, you get it.  If you hear a symphony from a radio or CD, it is separated from teh reality.

This is probably why younger people are less giving and rarely show gratitutde.  we don't see that we owe something to each other.

we don't interact directly with each other, ...

This meditation is a "thought for the day" that you might enjoy responding to...  I will ask Wes Green to elaborate and add to his observation.

The campaign called www.YourNETImpact.com is an effort to connect people.  If you make a click, you can change the number of views.  You can increase the impact and your time on the web today can have significance if you take time to recommend an over-looked video.

HERE IS ANOTHER IMPORTANT ARTICLE FOR STUDENTS TO STUDY AND CONSIDER   The Early Bird
